Fictional narration entitled Lore of London
The story takes place in a fictional, speculative future of flooded London in 2090. Battle of haves and have-nots fighting over natural resources. Futuristic conflict from climate change crisis. As an environmental advocate, I created this fictional short story narrative and news video foretelling a post-apocalyptic London in 2090 facing catastrophic flooding. In the divisive London in 2090, civilians represented by Extinction Rebellion anguished in the flooded area while the rich and powerful resided in higher dry land. The project aims to raise awareness of climate change through emotional appeals and reimagining the future if no action is taken now.
Speculative BBC News report
Documenting a series of footage including Extinction Rebellion going on the protest, affected victims and local community, London Underground. All taken around the disaster area in flooded London. Made with Blender and After Effect.
Documentation of the project
Through examining abstract beliefs, iconic personas and heterotopic spaces, we have imagined and designed a world where alternative rules, objects and potentials exist. It started as a group project. However, I alone created the 3d animation and posters and also came up with new ideologies and narration inspired by my favourite book, 1984. After a few months, I decided to individually revisit the project because I thought there were areas for improvement. Refining the visual design like the 3d models of the change of Flooded London 2090 view, outfit and archive image of local communities evokes pathos when we see those familiar everyday surroundings that we have connections to.
